General Introduction:
The U.S. Marine Corps first issued pith helmets called "elephant hats" to the 1st Marine Division's deployment to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, in 1940. They were worn in the South Pacific as well as worn by recruits in Marine Corps Boot Camp.
The USMC pith helmet has also seen use as a form of identification by rifle range coaches, similarly the campaign hat is worn by rifle range instructors as well as drill instructors. Featured by multiple side vents and multiple bands, this US Marine Corps pith helmet unique compared to other pith helmets. The hat provides a great protection from the sun and keeps your head cool as the helmet shell made of real pith is durable and lightweight. Outside cover: High quality khaki twill. The helmet is made of the real pith material (of an indigenous tree living under water - so called Cay Muong only grown in northern Vietnam) using the handmade production methods learnt from the former French colonizer during their occupation dating back to the 1900s.
